5th MARCH 2015 AT THE GRAND CAYMAN MARRIOTT BEACH RESORT

George Town, Grand Cayman, 24th February 2015 - The RICS Cayman Islands Property and Construction Conference will be held on the 5th March 2015 at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort. The conference is Grand Cayman’s second Property & Construction Conference and is expected to attract over 200 attendees who will come together for a full day of market insight, professional development and networking.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the world’s leading body for property professionals with over 100,000 members globally. It promotes and enforces the highest professional qualifications and standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure.

The theme of the conference is “Building Sustainable Communities”. This theme has been adopted on the basis of the decision of the Cayman Islands Government to set infrastructure projects as its priority. Building Sustainable Communities also reflects the Chamber of Commerce’s “Future of Cayman” initiative as 2 of the drivers are enhancing the quality of life and building smarter infrastructure.

The plenary session will focus on best practices to ensure that all projects, especially the revitalization of George Town, are planned and implemented effectively to enhance community development and quality of life on the island.

The keynote address will be delivered by Ms. Louise Brooke-Smith, the current RICS President. Ms. Brooke-Smith is the Managing Director of Brooke Smith Planning, a long-established planning and development consultancy based in UK. The Practice offers professional advice on town planning, land use and development matters to public and private sector clients, across the country.

Other speakers for the plenary session include Ms. Carolyn Sponza, Senior Associate of Gensler a global architecture, design, planning and consulting firm based in Washington DC and Mr. Simon Conway, Partner, PWC Cayman Islands.

The market outlook session which reviews the performance of the industry in the last 2 years and predicts the future trends will be moderated by Mr. Jeremy Hurst, President of IRG. Other panelist for this session include, Ms. Sheri Bodden, Partner, Bodden and Bodden, Mr. Michael Day, President of CIREBA, Mrs. Avolyn Howell, Senior Vice President, Cayman National Bank, Mr. Paul Parsons of Davenport and Mr. Simon Watson of Charterland Ltd.
