The New and Improved Dwellings

When you visit Dwellings this Fall you will notice many new introductions around the store. Gourmet cooks will revel in the newly extended kitchen department, which includes even more cookware, small appliances, kitchen gadgets and a larger gourmet section. In addition, Dwellings will be adding outdoor furniture to its already extensive indoor furniture collection. Finally, a Design Center will be launched in October to satisfy the growing demand for turnkey villa packages and to offer custom solutions to clients looking for that special piece.

Luis Carillo and Gael Alluard opened Dwellings following their personal experience furnishing a home. As shoppers, they immediately saw a need in the market for a one-stop-shop home store that would offer stylish and well priced contemporary furnishings and accessories. With their international experience in sales and marketing and the expertise of internationally renowned New York agency Grid2, Dwellings was created in December 2006. Since then, Dwellings has become the premier home store in the island offering a wide range of furniture, décor, tabletop, kitchen, bedding and bath; with a growing customer base among locals as well as expatriates. With the addition of outdoor living and the design center, Dwellings now boasts over 12,000 sf. of display space in which you can find absolutely everything you need to furnish your home.

The introduction of outdoor furniture and accessories was a logical addition to the Dwellings offering. Having worked on some packages for villa owners, Luis and Gael realized that this was a key aspect of island living. The new outdoor living department includes an elegant range of outdoor furniture made of superior quality marine grade Ndura wicker and wrought aluminum with cushions covered in beautiful weather resistant fabrics. The new area also includes decorative accessories such as outdoor lamps, planters, a wide range of outdoor cushions, lanterns, and many other decorative pieces. "We feel that outdoor is truly a part of the home in the Caribbean and that's where our customers like to entertain most of the time. With this in mind, we decided to offer a range of outdoor products that would allow our customers to make their outdoor space as beautiful and elegant as the indoor" says Luis Carillo.

"The new Design Center is a concept we have wanted to introduce to Barbados for some time" says Luis. Customers will now be able to choose from literally hundreds of upholstered sofa and chair frames and thousands of fabrics to create their own unique interior. Case goods and select décor items will also be available for special order through the Design Center. This service was created to cater to the villa market, which often requires turnkey packages, but it is also open to individual customers who wish to order custom pieces not available in store. Just make an appointment and Dwellings' experienced design consultants will work with you to create the look you want for your home, whether it be a simple finishing touch, or an entire fit out. This affordable service gives everyone the opportunity and resources to bring their dream to life.

Finally, Dwellings will also be introducing the famed designer furniture and décor line, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, in October. This popular line is only available in very select stores across the U.S. and will now be available for the first time ever in Barbados. Created in 1989, this furnishings line has become synonym of beauty, quality, comfort and value across the U.S. "We thought this line was the perfect fit for Dwellings as their ideals are very close to ours." says Luis. "We always maintain quality, comfort and value with an element of design to beautify the home. Our main objective is to help our customers make their house into a home."
