On the 50th Anniversary of our beautiful island, Hiltop Publications has published a luxury coffee table style book entitled 50 Barbadian Sporting Greats.

 

This book is an excellent read of the achievements of some of Barbados’ finest Sportspeople and Administrators and a must for sporting enthusiasts.

 

Filled with top class photography , Clarence Hiles and guest writers Robin Bradford and Kenmore Bynoe have complied a magnificent memoir.  Sporting Greats was designed by well known designer Neil Barnard at 809 Design Associates.

 

Mr Michael Power, JP and Chairman of the National Sports Council was in attendance at the Barbados Olympic Associations Headquarters to launch this unique book in the absence of the Minister of Culture,Sports and Youth, The Hon Stephen Lashley who is at the  Olympics.  Also present were some of the many featured sportspeople including Sir Everton Weekes, Earl Maynard, Jockies Chally Jones and Jono Jones, Golfers James Johnson and Roger Beale Junior, Charlie Griffith, Col Deighton Maynard and many more.

 

Author Clarence Hiles said

“It took me two years to research and write 50 Barbadian Sporting Greats. It was a labour of love. However I could not have done it without the support of many who provided photographs and associated material. To everyone, a sincere thanks.”

 

Attached is a list of all the featured greats and a digital sample of some of the extracts of the book.
